James Cagney Goofs Around With Dixon and Boyle
Переглядів 3,3 тис.7 років тому
For his 1937 film "Something to Sing About," Cagney hired two of his old vaudeville buddies: Harland Dixon, who had been famous on Broadway but never became a movie star, and Jimmy Boyle, who would later coach Cagney for "Yankee Doodle Dandy"

From 1918 through the 1930s, George White's "Scandals" were some of the top revues on Broadway. But before he became a producer, White (born Isadore Weitz) was a tap dancer, and in the film "George White's 1935 Scandals," he broke out a soft shoe.

An enjoyment to this day.
And I can’t walk up even three steps without any dancing.
Stunning Mr Robinson! ironic though that the white audience ignored him, and the choice of music, really?
💐💐💐(༎ຶ⌑༎ຶ)♡
Por favor, alguém sabe o nome da música que eles estão dançando?
GO BOY GOO!!!
But on top of everything else she was damn cute .
Aboriginal Indigenous American “Black” Indians. Not from Africa.
Omg 😳 I thought that said 1984 !,,, these are truly the originals B Boys ❤
So fortunate to have met and study with Eddie in SF and at the 80's tap festivals. Those were the days!
It seems Black ppl originate , then White people scrutinize mostly but some take, then Black ppl move on to new creations...and white people hold on and make whole institutions out of it? Bucking dancing, Blues, Jazz...and on and on?
happiest rendition of the classic song i've watched Thank you
Can anyone else hear a rhythm which Michael Flatley from Riverdance used in this video? The time when he was duelling with the drums…
The BEST Tap Dancer of all times 🎉
This comes from the ulster scots in the south. Just type in buck dancing on youtube. Its a bunch of white people from Apalachia

A gifted black man. Sad he had to take on degrading and disrespectful roles in Hollywood to make money.
His feet should be nominated for the best vocalist if you get my drift! He was AMAZING
Sammy Davis jr, was legendary.
He was the greatest!!!
I'd love to see her old films colorized. She was a rare talent.
So proud to see my Dad in action Love this!!!!
shrek
The original B-Boys
Why does Steve seem to push Buddy @1:59? I realize it's part of the plan, but why?
It's fun. All part of the act. Reminding him to stay in his lane
You are OVER ANALYZING this......STOP !!!!!
@@toseedyou - what an absurd reply to a short and sincere question. I realize pushing Buddy is part of the plan, but why? Now I will elaborate, since it seems you didn't get the question. Whatever the intent, that moment was the one part of the performance that didn't "land". It felt like a director told Steve to do that, but no one really knew why. It fell flat. I wondered what they were going for. If it was spoken what would Steve be saying? He shakes his head - as if to say "you're doing it wrong", then looks to the band (translation: ____?), then all of a suddent they're side by side, undercutting the story scene they just enacted. It's confusing. It sticks out like "well that didn't work / well that was weird!"
@@JonathonNeville YOU over analyzed the shtick, now you are over analyzing my reply....WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU. You might need an ANALYST. Do you want me to suggest one in your area? Don't you have a job to go to ? Now don't go over analyzing that too.
@@toseedyou - i see you like to tell people what to do. i won't ask why - that should please you.
Genius. The only one I consider the REAL Scarecrow.
Does anyone tap like that anymore ?
Outstanding.
Excellence!!
What a unique clever dance number.......they made it work by their well done talented tap dancing. Just an amazing routine!!! Great video!
Marvelous, without any digital effects or such, just built up in real, big size!
Phenomenal!
We honored 2 members of the Four Step Brothers at Tap Extravaganza NYC: Prince Spencer and Maceo Anderson
History is still repeating itself✨...from generation to generation.🌟.. just different styles according to the era❤🤎🖤💚💛
It's a shame these guys never starred in their own movies. What we were all deprived of because of narrow-mindedness.
Beautiful
Dan Dailey and the Berry Brothers- Fantasticos
Marvellous!
They should have done this at the White House Christmas 2023.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17 - great gifts were Sammy & his family!!!❤️❤️❤️pure talent!
Now all the great musicals have their own stairs show.
I doubt I could even climb those stairs. Simply amazing.
1:48 Is this where modern tv shows got the idea to show me the audience (or the judges) instead of the amazing performance I’m trying to see?
Jo Jones brought me here. Infinite respect.
Trades to Billy’s Bounce then a tasty routine… loved the entire performance!!!! Bravooooo!!!!

As usual anything to do with innovative rhythm and dance has ALWAYS BEEN DONE BY GUESS WHO!
❤❤❤
I was waiting for Will Smith to crash the stage . . . and get kicked in the head.
